The exceptional service from the attentive staff, providing a flurry of drinks and gastronomic delights, fine company and travelling timelessly is being revived on a magical continent abundant with smiles and breath-taking scenery. Exploring the undulating hills and valleys of Africa and learning about its rich cultures and the fusion of people and passions.
We look forward to meeting again on some exotic course to which we have set our compass ̶ the only way to get there and back is with us.

CAWL Orient-Express-Africa has made several overtures to partners and is assembling a collection of experiences for our travellers on their rail day/weekend excursions, enjoying many a tourist attraction and long haul demands in comfort and style.
We live in an age where we need faster ways of getting things done and getting to our destination, but quantity rarely affords one quality. For us the end goal is meeting customer expectation with meticulous attention to detail.

- · Compagnie Africaine des Wagons-Lits (CAWL) aspires to meet the demands of its bespoke and daring global traveller by offering that one commodity that the modern world usurps from us – time.
· From disembarking by boat or plane and meeting the boat train to being welcomed into colonnaded halls of excellence, CAWL will provide an elegant way to experience the continent.
· CAWL will ensure regional excellence, be it from our proposed base at Dal Josafat, Paarl and Cape Town in the Western Cape to concessionary line development at De Aar-Touwsriver (Western Cape) in partnership with Transnet Freight Rail.
· We are committed to the preservation of rail heritage in South Africa and to growing rail tourism both in South Africa and in the region. Heritage rail and rail tourism has globally become a key component of the tourism industry in general and is a fast-growing and sustainable segment of tourism industries.
· CAWL is partnering with Springbok Classic Aviation to bring vintage aviation to new heights by the creation of Orient-Express-Air
· CAWL is developing hospitality offerings in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape

Perpetuating the myth and magic that Georges Nagelmackers started by bridging continents via rail in 1883, Africa was as exotic and alluring then as now. Part of the Grand Tour was seeing tourist attractions such as the pyramids at Giza but there was a dream to span the continent and see more. We continue in that dream through Orient Express Africa.
